Hey Friends! I'm the original face of Rundle Roots! I'm so proud to call this salon my forever! I've been doing hair for 22 years now. This particular salon was just a childhood dream of mine. My folks grew up in this neighborhood, and I spent time as a child wandering this block, passing by the hair salon, creeping through the windows. Really just wanting to get my chance to sit in the chair and get the bob I was dreaming of. Amazed by the women who were just living my adult dream. Doing hair and creating art daily. I never really got a chance to have the salon experience as a child, as my mother worked in this salon as a shampoo girl before I even existed. Which would automatically make her my hairstylist. From mediocre haircuts to over processed perms, I really got it all in the comfort of my own home. I like to consider myself a well-rounded stylist, and I am always up for a challenge. I Love color theory; I consider myself a color creator at heart. Creating cuts to go with my color designs fall next in line of my favorite things to do here. I love creating my custom colors and placements. Most people who have sat in my chair know I'm very creative and the better I know you, the more my custom colors shine through. I love "pretty" hair. Women's hair is where I do my best work, I do it all though! Styling is a big one for me. I think it's very important for you to leave feeling and looking your absolute best. I like to teach my guests how to style their own hair and share my tips and tricks with them. Especially my curly girlies!I also love to shape and create a perfect brow; a good wax and a little tint goes a long way! My eye for beauty makes a job like this pretty effortless. I love people, and I love sharing my talent with the world! Just here making this place a little more beautiful one person at a time!

Hi, I’m Maddy. I’ve been in the industry for 16 years. When I was 16 years old, I started as a front-end coordinator at a salon, and by the age of 18, I attended hair school in the fall of 2010.
Every time I say that, it feels unreal to me that it’s been this long. I’ve worked in my hometown of Wetaskiwin, on Vancouver Island, but Edmonton is where I’ve put down roots.
I enjoy thrifting, karaoke, festivals, and traveling as much as I can! When I’m home, I’m usually watching Jeopardy! with my 10-year-old munchkin cat attached at my hip.
I taught at trade school as an instructor for 2.5 years. I believe education is the key to success in any career. Teaching is one of the most rewarding things I have ever done. I was able to give back and mentor young stylists—you can never have too much knowledge! Behind the chair, I believe in color longevity and straightforward styling techniques so that my clients can manage their hair at home.
